hi all!  I was able to attend the Organizing for Change workshop that Mel King and Lew Finfer put together this late afternoon into early evening.  The assembled leaders and representatives from a wide range of community based organizations were pretty enthusiastic about the course you all are teaching and reiterated the importance of 1) having the stories/local organizing history be told and known by our youth and 2) giving youth real opportunities to be involved in the work of civic engagement and action.  You are the ones who are making this happen day after day and I just wanted to reiterate our acknowledgment and appreciation of your hard work!

I did take some brief notes during the convening which I’ll post here:  Organizing for Change Workshop

[Also, geez... I know I said I would put up some additional resources/materials as well during our last meeting and I keep on getting swamped and neglecting to do so.  Can you let me know if that would still be helpful as you wrap up Unit 2, and what specifically might be helpful?  News articles?  Videos?  Political cartoons?]

Here’s the final online assignment for Unit 2.  As usual, please aim for completion by Monday January 30th at 10pm.

Upload Unit 2 Artifacts (part 2):  This is an easy one… as you are wrapping up your unit 2 instruction, please finish uploading the rest of some representative assignments/powerpoints/materials related to introducing PAR, your final Unit 2 assessment materials or other artifacts you think would be valuable to build the ‘core.’
