Just thinking that a week ago at this moment, I was perched uncomfortably in my airplane seat (thankfully, an aisle one– thank you Queenie of Feti travel!) somewhere over the Pacific. Boston-bound originating from a Ho Chi Minh City to Hong Kong leg and by way of a Chicago stopover. Probably looking at the watch and counting down the hours, or watching a movie on my laptop or trying to figure out how and wwhy I once found airplane food so appealing. (I will admit that I was a fan of the cup-of-noodles snack meal that we had 2/3rds of the way through, greedily drinking down that salty broth).
Home. All those right kinds of missed intimacies. Picking up on little projects that are really not all that important, but are steady improvements to making home a little better. Plans to call the electrician to put up the lighting fixtures I’ve already ordered, putting together the 2nd bedroom and deciding that I really ought to find that comfortable couch-that-has-been-planned-for-and-talked-about-for-too-long. Being that much more sensitive to how quiet and uncrowded it is on the streets and neighborhood here compared to the places I had visited over the past month. A different measure of density and space.
In the meanwhile? Just being thankful for the ties that bind, ie: retreating to air conditioning on hot days.
Focusing on Home
