At home, Pennsylvania

9:00 AM

There’s something particularly good about being in the middle of the morning shower, and seeing the door to the bathroom crack open once, twice and three times–each time successively wider–with the exploring voice of the two year old nephew on the other side of the curtain. And all the better after the third door opening to see the inverted impressions of two small hands and a nephew-sized head press against the outside of the shower curtain.

Intimacies of home.
