I’m only on ‘if!’…

One of those classic school-life moments in a third grade classroom this morning. Mid-morning sunlight coming through back windows and pleasant breeze coming in from the ones, thankfully, cracked open. Kids at various stages of busyness (some on task and some not)..the ways in which all those little conversations and interactions and conflicts surface, bubble over at times and then fade away–interlaced, at times complementary and at times in competition. Nearing the end of the given amount of time to copy down a sentence prompt on the board, one that requires them to write down: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why would you go there?

[Really, we should all write that question down and give it some thought..]

A somewhat terse reminder from the teacher that the time remaining to copy the prompt is almost over, eliciting the following wide-eyed yelp from a boy sitting nearby:

“What? We only have two minutes?? I’m only on “If”!
