Saturday at Boston Wordcamp

Quite a scene at the Boston Wordcamp conference here at the Microsoft Center in Kendall Square.

All that tech energy and prowess, intensified in the lovely modern digs of this multistory, tech-modernized-to-the-hilt place.

I’ll have to admit–I’m getting limited take-away value from the conference sessions, which are mostly above my wordpress knowledge/experience base or too introductory to get me moving along with learning this blogging/CMS business.

Still, I’m glad to be able to leave this late afternoon with at least one targeted tangible: getting help from the Genius Bar to help me upload a large PDF document (the BCLA Capstone Viewbook) that I’ve been trying to figure out for close to half a year now.

As the favorite line from the movie Contact goes–father to the young girl playing Jodie Foster’s adult character–’Slow moves, Ellie.  Slow moves…’

I’ll take it…

Update.  Good call.  I stopped by the Genius bar one more time to see if I could get another question or two in, and twenty minutes later–as the conference organizers were working to move people towards the end keynote presentation–I emerged from the windowed conference room dazzled by the expertise and the quick gains.  Learning how to use the SEO functions the way they are supposed to be used.  (Who knew that you had to do keywords, title and description for each post?).  Getting Google Analytics up and running.  Getting some new plug-ins to insert an image as a draggable widget for the navigation bar.  And otherwise getting truly expert and generous advice on how to take this website and make it better.  Huge shout out and thanks to Ross from Growth Spark.
