Renovation: Bonus Project

Bonus craftmanship.

Okay, so maybe that’s a little exaggerated. I’m just getting my feet wet with this home project stuff. But how fun to re-purpose some of the old closet material and figure out a way to design out the inlaid cut-out shelving/entertainment space in the living room? I had been meaning to get to it for a while, with its mess of wires, speaker on the floor and the non-level shelf that’s been there for a while. A perfect time to give it a shot, with lots of salvageable materials (from laminate boards to brackets to wood screws) and a nice empty closet for a workspace. Here goes the results:

First of two small shelving units I made.

First of shelf unit

Really satisfying (got that feeling a lot!) with buying a drill attachment to make holes in the rear of the shelves for electronics wires to snake out.

Rear electronic wire holds I drilled

Two units finished and stacked up…

Stacked shelves

And the final idea! Definitely worth the extra hour and a half or two to get together.

Installed!
