My nephew recently celebrated a birthday (my goodness, the boy is THREE) and in telling uncle fashion, I had to be reminded of this fact in perhaps a too-understanding passing comment made by my parents over the phone. (“James, you know it’s I.’s birthday coming up, right? Right?”). Sigh.
Bring on the animals!
With usual grace, however, my sister had the perfect gift suggestion… a jumbo animal set–the jungle set–from a place called Learning Resources. I. has been all about animals for quite a while now. Animals of all kinds. A lovely memory from a visit down to Pennsylvania this past winter break and a morning of I. happily playing with S. on the kitchen floor with piles and piles of them. My sister and brother-in-law at the kitchen table drinking coffee and looking on with that mix of parental love and bemusement. No better impression to be made.
He also recently got the farm set from the same company which he apparently enjoys taking with him from place to place. Love the description that my brother-in-law gave about it:
The farm set came in a briefcase like box that I. carries with him. Your mom said he looks like an executive.
I bought and sent out the jungle set.
I had to love one of the reviews that another customer so earnestly wrote of one of the animal sets, too. Take a look:
