The Grand Canyon Really is Grand

Woke up to some perfect weather for our full day visit to the Grand Canyon.  Forecasted to be partly sunny and in the mid 60s to low 70s with cooling breezes. A good, starting breakfast at a little cafe next to our hotel in Williams, AZ and then we were off.

It’s hard to capture in words.  From the drive north to visiting the park’s interpretive center, to the first overlook views.. to the hike down the South Kaibab trail into the Canyon, and from the hard work of hiking back up to some quiet in late afternoon to sunset?  A more than special place.

I particularly liked how the visitor’s center put it– there’s no one way to do the Grand Canyon.  Whether you hike, or reflect or drive from viewpoint to viewpoint, you do it at your own pace.  Absolutely worth returning to.  A few pictures below..

Gorgeous pictures, James. The Grand Canyon is at the top of my list of favorite national parks. So very humbling. Sounds like you’re still on your trip, yes? Enjoy, and I’d love to hear what else you’re doing on the trip. Perhaps catching up on older posts will answer that question.
