Doing the Minuteman Bikeway

A great bike ride today with friend L. and a few others, literally taking the full day.  Let’s just say that I wasn’t planning on the 55 mile ride that it turned out to be.  Beginning from Jamaica Plain to Somerville, and then out on the Minuteman Bikeway to its end in Bedford, and on to Concord and Walden pond?  Worth every mile there and back.

And a great scene on the Minuteman bike path.  L. says it’s the most used bike path in the country, which I can definitely believe.  Not overly crowded today, but a volunteer ‘counter’ by the path said that he had been logging about 800 people going by each hour.

A slice of spring and people of all ages enjoying it.  Low 70s, sunny–practically a requisite to be outside to enjoy it.  All the fields we passed with soccer games enlivening them.  Families out in force with the attention centering on their training-wheeled younger riders.  More elderly riders with the most high tech, NASA designed and vented helmets.  Rollerbladers and walkers.  The speedy road warriors.

The rear end isn’t the happiest camper right now, but hey.  You do what you have to do.  Great day.
