New Megabus Service from Boston to Philadelphia

Alright!!  Though fine with the roundtrip bus rides between Boston and NYC, bus trips to Philadelphia (through NYC) have always been a little harrowing.  Especially that one Thanksgiving trip when I found out that all the connecting buses from New York to my end destination were booked.  (Ensue salvation through a scramble across the city for a commuter train variation.  Brother-in-law to the rescue, for sure.)

Here goes a new viable option…

Megabus to start Hub-Philly service, offer free seats

Megabus will begin service from Philadelphia to Boston and eight other cities on July 21, with three daily local departures from South Station. Currently the only direct service the discounter offers from Boston is to New York — and all on doubledecker buses.

To mark the expansion, Megabus, which offers fares as low as $1 and runs buses equipped with free WiFi and power outlets, plans to offer 10,000 free seats for travel to and from Philadelphia from the nine new cities. Customers will need to use the promo code LUVPHL when booking a ticket to have a chance at scoring a free seat. Winners will be selected at random, and the company says that there will not necessarily be free seats available on every bus, every day.

Besides Boston, the other eight new destination cities from Philly include: Atlantic City, N.J.; Baltimore; Buffalo and Syracuse in New York; Toronto; and Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, and State College in Pennsylvania.
