How lucky to have had the week here in this rented place near the clam flats in Rockland, Maine. Especially with the home temperatures in Boston holding steady in the mid to low 90s. Today here on the coast? Cool and misty in the mid 60s. Yesterday here, Downeast? Warm and bright in the low 80s. Can’t beat that.
Finding regularity in the coming and going of the tide, visible from the second floor porch here, in mid-morning and in mid-evening. Waking up late with coffee on the porch, walking around the nearby cities of Rockport, Camden and Belfast, and a huge fete of steak and lobster the other evening (thanks to the expert cooking of S’s mom’s boyfriend). Renting a bike for S, with her making some impressive riding gains over a few short trips around the block. Visiting the local ice cream and hot dog stands (it all seems to taste better here). And a great solo all-day bike exploration yesterday, checking out a few local lighthouses, eating the classic foods and pedaling away on some backcountry Maine roads.
Life is good, here.
